RRI.CO.ID, Beijing - The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Beijing held an orchestral concert titled A Musical Tapestry of the Archipelago at the Century Theatre in Beijing, China. The event was as part of the commemoration of Indonesia’s 81st Independence Day.

In a written statement received in Jakarta on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, the Indonesian Embassy said the concert, held on July 24, featured the Trinity Youth Symphony Orchestra (TRUST) and was attended by members of the diplomatic community, government representatives, academics, media, students, the Indonesian diaspora, and Chinese guests.

Representing the Indonesian Ambassador to China, Deputy Chief of Mission Dr. Irene said that music is a universal language capable of transcending differences in language, culture, and background, making it a powerful medium for strengthening people-to-people ties between the two countries.

“Just as an orchestra consists of diverse instruments that come together to create harmony, the relationship between Indonesia and China is built on mutual respect, mutual understanding, and complementarity. Cultural diplomacy and people-to-people exchanges therefore play a vital role in strengthening the friendship between our two nations,” she said.

TRUST is a youth orchestra under Trinity Optima Production, led by Dr. Nathania Karina as Music Director and Resident Conductor. As a non-profit organization, the orchestra has earned several international accolades, including the Outstanding Young Performer Award at the 2024 Edinburgh Festival Fringe in the United Kingdom, the Gold Medal at the 2025 World Orchestra Festival Vienna in Austria, and the Exemplary Orchestra award at the 2026 International Youth Exchange Concert in Beijing.

During the concert, TRUST performed a selection of works showcasing Indonesia’s rich musical heritage, including Laskar Pelangi, Bungong Jeumpa, Janger, and Yamko Rambe Yamko, presented in modern symphonic arrangements blended with pop and jazz elements. The performance received an enthusiastic response from the audience.

The Indonesian Embassy in Beijing stated that the concert reflects its commitment to strengthening people-to-people exchanges between Indonesia and China through arts, culture, education, and youth engagement. The initiative is expected to further enhance mutual understanding, trust, and lasting friendship between the two countries.
