RRI.CO.ID, Seoul – The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) in Seoul has invited South Korean companies to increase investment in Indonesia’s strategic industrial sectors. It was stated through the Indonesia–Korea Business Forum 2026, held at the Fairmont Ambassador Hotel in Seoul on Monday, July 27, 2026.

Indonesian Ambassador to South Korea, Cecep Herawan, said Indonesia continues to refine its economic policies to create a fairer, more transparent, competitive, and predictable investment climate for both domestic and international businesses.

“Indonesia remains open to foreign investment and views the business community as a key partner in national development. We invite Korean investors to grow together with Indonesia as long-term partners,” Cecep said in a written statement from the Indonesian Embassy in Seoul received in Jakarta on Tuesday, July 28, 2026.

According to him, global economic uncertainty presents an opportunity for South Korean companies to expand their investment in Indonesia. He noted that companies investing early would be better positioned when the global economy enters its next phase of growth.

“We are not simply offering a market. We are offering a partnership to build the industries of the future, from advanced manufacturing and the energy transition to the digital economy,” Cecep said.

He added that this momentum is further strengthened by cooperation on Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) technology, as well as business agreements worth US$10.2 billion reached during the Indonesian President’s visit to Seoul in April 2026.

Meanwhile, Director General for ASEAN Affairs at South Korea’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Lee Dong-gy, said economic cooperation between Indonesia and South Korea continues to expand into electric vehicles, clean energy, and artificial intelligence. Director General for Economic Affairs at Indonesia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Daniel Tumpal Simanjuntak, noted that Indonesia recorded US$21.4 billion in foreign direct investment (FDI) in 2025 and invited South Korean investment in the semiconductor, advanced manufacturing, shipbuilding, and small modular reactor (SMR) sectors.

Economic ties between Indonesia and South Korea continue to show positive growth. Between 2021 and 2025, South Korea’s realized investment in Indonesia reached US$11.45 billion, supported by the expansion of major companies including Hyundai Motor Group, POSCO, Lotte Chemical, KCC Glass, CJ Group, SK Group, and LX International.
