RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Indonesia is strengthening its strategic cooperation with the governments of Switzerland and Germany to develop global-standard industrial human resources through the National Dual Vocational Education and Training (DVET) 2026 event held in Jakarta on Tuesday, July 21, 2026. This international collaboration is designed to accelerate national manufacturing productivity while supporting the Golden Indonesia 2045 vision.

This initiative addresses the rapid development of artificial intelligence, automation, the green economic transition, and the dynamics of global supply chains. Indonesian Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita emphasized that strengthening vocational education is the cornerstone for building an adaptive and innovative workforce.

The collaboration, facilitated through the Ministry of Industry’s Industrial Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDMI), involves global development partners such as SECO, Swisscontact, and Germany’s GIZ. This synergy focuses on implementing a dual education system (a learning model that combines classroom learning with hands-on job training) and aligning the curriculum with the needs of modern industry.

Head of BPSDMI Doddy Rahadi explained that this collaboration has had a tangible impact, ranging from grants for modern equipment to capacity building for educators. “Equally important, we have succeeded in fostering a new culture, a culture of collaboration. Schools and industry can no longer operate in isolation, both must be equal partners in shaping the talent of the future,” Doddy said.

The commitment of international partners was also emphasized by SECO’s Head of Cooperation, Violette Ruppanner, who views investment in skills as the key to economic competitiveness. “Throughout this partnership, we’ve had one simple ambition. To bridge the gap between the worlds of education and industry,” she asserted.

Support for industrial sustainability was also voiced by GIZ Deputy Country Director Shameer Khanal, who highlighted the importance of expertise in the green transition. “Today’s event is about investing in people. After all, no green transition can succeed without a workforce equipped with the right knowledge, skills, and opportunities,” Shameer said.

This cross-national collaboration is expected to continue expanding the adoption of best practices in vocational education across various institutions and companies in Indonesia. BPSDMI Secretary Sidik Herman stated, “We hope that the various methods, tools, and best practices shared through the National DVET will be adopted by an increasing number of educational institutions and companies.”
