Indonesian Air Force and Royal Thai Air Force Reinforce Strategic Cooperation

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU) and the Royal Thai Air Force (RTAF) are strengthening strategic cooperation to enhance professionalism, interoperability, and readiness to face the evolving regional security challenges. The commitment was discussed in a meeting between the Chief of Staff of the Air Force, Air Marshal M. Tonny Harjono, and the Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Air Force, Air Chief Marshal (ACM) Sakesan Kantha, at the Air Force Headquarters, Cilangkap, East Jakarta, on Wednesday, July 22, 2026.
The meeting also discussed strengthening cooperation in the fields of cybersecurity, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), space, humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HADR), as well as the development of joint exercises and personnel exchanges.

On that occasion, Tonny Harjono stated that the relationship between the Indonesian Air Force and the Royal Thai Air Force has been closely established over the years thru joint exercises, education, personnel exchanges, staff meetings, and professional discussions.
"We hope that the relationship between the two air forces continues to develop thru the implementation of various established cooperation programs and the strengthening of communication and coordination that provide real benefits for both air forces," Tonny said.
Meanwhile, Air Chief Marshal Sakesan Kantha considered Indonesia to be a strategic partner of Thailand in the region with many common interests. According to him, the dynamics of global security demand that the air forces of both countries continue to strengthen collaboration in various fields.
"The development of the global security environment demands that the air force continuously strengthen collaboration in the fields of technology, cybersecurity, UAVs, and human resource development to face future challenges," he explained.
The Air Force Chief of Staff awarded the Air Force Class I Honorary Pilot Wing to Air Chief Marshal Sakesan Kantha for his leadership in strengthening the cooperative relationship between the TNI AU and the Royal Thai Air Force.
