RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Patimban Port has launched its first international container import service with the arrival of MV MSC CARLA III at the Patimban Container Terminal. The milestone follows the port’s inaugural international container export service conducted the previous week.

MV MSC CARLA III berthed at Patimban Port on July 19, 2026, after arriving from Singapore, and completed its cargo operations on July 21, 2026. The vessel then continued its voyage to Pasir Gudang, Malaysia; Laem Chabang, Thailand; and Shanghai and Ningbo, China, as part of the regular Enhanced Seahorse Service.

During the port call, cargo handling reached 1,632 TEUs, comprising 1,248 TEUs of export cargo and 384 TEUs of import cargo. The imported cargo consisted of 192 containers carrying BYD vehicle components, which will be transported to the company’s manufacturing plant in Subang, West Java.

Meanwhile, the export cargo comprised paper raw materials destined for international markets through the global shipping network of Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC). The introduction of both export and import services is expected to strengthen Patimban Port’s role as a logistics hub supporting industrial areas in West Java.

Head of the Class II Patimban Harbormaster and Port Authority (KSOP), Mohd. Arief Agustian, said the inaugural international container import service complements the export service launched the previous week.

“This demonstrates that Patimban Port is increasingly ready to handle both export and import activities. We hope it will become an alternative international logistics gateway that supports industrial growth, investment, and the national economy,” Arief said in a written statement on Tuesday, July 21, 2026.

He added that the expansion of international shipping services at Patimban Port is expected to enhance international trade, broaden national supply chain options, and provide reliable logistics services. It is for businesses and industrial estates across Indonesia.
