RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – French jazz duo, Watchdog, will tour Indonesia's major music festivals from July 22 to August 8, 2026, according to an official press release from the Institut français d’Indonésie (IFI). The tour marks the fifth edition of the annual French Jazz initiative organized by the Embassy of France in Indonesia.

The diplomatic mission continues its commitment to strengthening cultural cooperation following the success of the recent 2026 Fête de la Musique. This program enables young artists to connect directly with local audiences, music festivals, and industry professionals.

Watchdog will travel across six major Indonesian cities during their three-week journey. Their itinerary features live concerts, educational workshops, professional meetings, and collaborative performances with local musicians.

The fifth edition relies on partnerships with prominent cultural players in both countries. Key supporters include Forum Jazz Indonesia, Association Jazzé Croisé, Jazz Gunung Festival, ArtJog, The Papandayan Jazz Festival, and Ubud Village Jazz Festival.

The tour kicks off in Bromo with a two-day Jazz Camp on July 22 before a live performance at the Jazz Gunung Festival on July 25. The artists then travel to Yogyakarta for a concert at ArtJog on July 28.

Watchdog will move to Java's main urban centers starting with a show at Jazz Summit Indonesia in Jakarta on July 31. They will subsequently play in Bandung on August 1 and Surabaya on August 4 before concluding the tour at the Ubud Village Jazz Festival in Bali on August 8.

Educational outreach remains a primary focus of this cultural exchange program. Throughout the trip, the French musicians will lead masterclasses and community gatherings designed for local students, teachers, and artists.

Founded in 2016, Watchdog consists of pianist Anne Quillier and clarinetist Pierre Horckmans. The award-winning duo combines traditional improvisation with electronic elements and sound exploration.

Their tour offers international and local audiences a modern sample of France's dynamic contemporary jazz scene. The initiative reinforces the role of music as a shared bridge for creative dialogue between France and Indonesia.
