RRI.CO.ID. Jakarta - The Indonesian National Police and the Police of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) have just carried out a fugitive exchange. The process was carried out through the National Central Bureau (NCB) Interpol Indonesia as a form of cross-border law enforcement cooperation.

Under this reciprocal mechanism, NCB Interpol Indonesia repatriated three Chinese nationals who had fled to Indonesia. In return, the PRC Police handed over one Indonesian citizen who was hiding in China to the Indonesian National Police.

The Secretary of NCB Interpol Indonesia, International Communication Division of the Indonesian National Police, Brigadier General Pol. Untung Widyatmoko, stated that this success was the result of close coordination between the two sides. "This success demonstrates Polri’s commitment through NCB Interpol Indonesia to strengthen international cooperation to ensure that criminal offenders have no safe haven to evade legal proceedings," he said. "The strong synergy with the Police of the People’s Republic of China was key to carrying out this fugitive exchange process smoothly, safely, and in accordance with applicable laws," he stressed.

The repatriation of the three Chinese nationals was carried out in two stages. In the first stage, two fugitives with the initials ZR and LZ were flown to Baiyun International Airport, Guangzhou, and arrived on Friday (7/10) morning local time. In the second stage, the fugitive with the initials HZ was repatriated on Saturday, July 11. All three were handed over directly to the PRC Police along with the evidence that was found.

Meanwhile, an Indonesian citizen with the initials KT, who is suspected of involvement in fraud and embezzlement, was successfully repatriated from the PRC. The individual arrived at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport on Monday night, July 13. Upon arrival in Indonesia, KT was immediately handed over by NCB Interpol Indonesia to investigators from the Specific Crimes Directorate of the Criminal Investigation Division of the Indonesian National Police for further processing.

The PRC Police also appreciated this cooperation. A representative of Chinese law enforcement authorities stated that this fugitive exchange is a manifestation of a shared commitment to eradicating transnational crime."China and Indonesia have the same interest in maintaining security and legal certainty. We will continue to strengthen cooperation with Polri so that criminals have no place to hide," the PRC Police stated.

Brigadier General Pol. Untung Widyatmoko emphasized that this success proves the effectiveness of the Interpol network in supporting international law enforcement. "Polri will continue to optimize cooperation with Interpol member countries in tracking, arresting, and repatriating fugitives. This is part of our commitment to supporting professional, transparent law enforcement that provides legal certainty, both at the national and international levels," he concluded.
