RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Indonesia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sugiono, said Indonesia is ready to host dialogue between the parties involved in the conflict in Myanmar as part of its support for reconciliation and peace efforts in the country.
"We have already conveyed that Indonesia is ready. Indonesia's position is relatively more acceptable. We are also ready to serve as the host if needed," Sugiono told reporters after the 6th Indonesia-Vietnam Joint Commission for Bilateral Cooperation (JCBC) Meeting with Vietnamese Foreign Minister Lê Hoài Trung in Jakarta on Tuesday, 14 July 2026.
The Minister said he had conveyed Indonesia's readiness during the Informal ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting with Myanmar in Bangkok, Thailand, on Sunday, July 12, 2026.
According to him, the meeting discussed the latest developments in Myanmar, with a focus on the implementation of the Five-Point Consensus (5PC), which remains ASEAN's primary framework for resolving the crisis in the country. He said all ASEAN member states continue to support an inclusive resolution to the conflict in Myanmar by engaging all stakeholders.
He said any progress in implementing the 5PC should be appreciated, while acknowledging that the complexity of the situation in Myanmar means the implementation process will take time. He further emphasized the importance of developing follow-up mechanisms to assess the implementation of the 5PC more concretely, including establishing clear parameters for the cessation of violence as mandated under the consensus.
During the informal meeting, Sugiono also noted that the implementation of the 5PC continues to face various challenges, particularly in realizing an inclusive national dialogue amid the ongoing armed conflict.
"An inclusive national dialogue involving all stakeholders is the key to achieving lasting peace and national reconciliation," he said.
He reaffirmed that the Five-Point Consensus remains ASEAN's main reference for advancing peace in Myanmar, with emphasis on ending violence, promoting inclusive dialogue, and ensuring the safe and non-discriminatory delivery of humanitarian assistance.
