RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia and India are strengthening their strategic partnership in higher education thru the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between PT Intelegensia Grahatama, as the Developer and Manager of the Singhasari Special Economic Zone, and the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIM Bangalore) in Jakarta, Monday, July 6, 2026.

The signing of the MoU took place during the visit of the Prime Minister of India, H.E. Narendra Modi, to Indonesia. This agreement also supports the development of the Singhasari Special Economic Zone (SEZ) as an international education hub for Indonesia and the ASEAN region.

The Secretary of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs and Chairman of the National SEZ Council Implementation Team, Susiwijono Moegiarso, stated that Indonesia needs superior human resources with global competitiveness. According to him, the presence of IIM Bangalore strengthens the transformation of Singhasari SEZ into a center for innovation, education, and international talent development.

"Today, with IIM Bangalore, this reflects a broader shift in Indonesia's Special Economic Zones (SEZ) from industrial areas to innovation ecosystems that integrate investment, education, technology, research, and talent development for sustainable economic value," Susiwijono said.

Meanwhile, the Indian Ambassador to the Republic of Indonesia, H.E. Sandeep Chakravorty, stated that this cooperation is a manifestation of the commitment of both countries to provide world-class management education in Indonesia. The program developed by IIM Bangalore will be tailored to Indonesia's needs, especially in future strategic fields.

"We bring the best from India to Indonesia. The management program at IIM Bangalore Singhasari will be tailored to Indonesia's needs in fields such as artificial intelligence, data science, and healthcare management, among others," he said.

The collaboration between Singhasari SEZ and IIM Bangalore serves as the foundation for the development of international standard management education at Singhasari SEZ. Its implementation will be carried out gradually thru the organization of the International General Management Program (iGMP), which is a 25-day executive education program over six months aimed at professionals and executives.
