RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Ten students from Brilli Kids Leadership Elementary School in Gorontalo proved that age is no barrier to achievement, earning Silver and Bronze Awards at the Asia Math Engineering Challenge (AMEC) 2026 in Johor Bahru, Malaysia.

Remarkably, the school was the only elementary institution competing against middle school participants from across Asia.

Five students--Macayla Suraya Askana Hutagalung, Khalisa Danishara, Charlene Selena Wisang, Gendis Lalita Adraya Pranoto, and Aldric Prama Polontal--secured Silver Awards, while Shannon Roferichie Liyanto, Frechianny Edeline Hermanto, Azkayra Erinina Ismail, Afdhal Gilang Maloho, and Khanza Dwi Arshani received Bronze.

School Principal Ika Rahmawati Hadikum said the participation was part of the school’s mission to provide international learning experiences and strengthen 21st‑century skills such as critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, communication, and technology use.

“This achievement is a valuable experience for students to develop both academic ability and innovative skills through collaboration with peers from various countries,” she noted.

The competition featured STEM‑based workshops and projects, including artificial intelligence, microcontrollers, digital sensors, hackathons, and innovation presentations before an international jury.

Participants also visited University Technology Malaysia (UTM) and joined mentoring sessions to design technology‑based solutions for everyday challenges.

Brilli Kids students worked in cross‑national teams to build prototypes, solve problems, and present their ideas, competing alongside peers from Brunei Darussalam, the Philippines, Malaysia, and Indonesia’s own Sekolah Indonesia Johor Bahru.

AMEC is recognized as a platform that brings together young learners across Asia to sharpen skills in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics through competitions, workshops, and project‑based learning.

For Brilli Kids, the 2026 edition marked both a milestone in academic achievement and a testament to the potential of Indonesian elementary students on the international stage. ***
