RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Indonesia continues to strengthen its position as one of the world’s largest digital economies, with its growing market potential opening opportunities for international collaboration to accelerate innovation, investment, and national digital transformation.

These efforts were highlighted at the “Indonesia-Switzerland Business Forum Series 2026 on the Digital Economy: Enhancing Collaboration in the Fastest Emerging Market,” organized by the Indonesian Embassy in Bern in collaboration with several partners in Zug, Switzerland, on Thursday, June 25, 2026.

The forum brought together business leaders, academics, policymakers, and digital companies from both countries to expand cooperation in the digital economy.

“With the rapid development of Indonesia’s digital ecosystem and the increasingly decisive role of AI in future growth -- projected to reach nearly USD 180 billion by 2030 -- now is the right time for innovators from Switzerland and Indonesia to engage and interact,” said Indonesia’s Ambassador to Switzerland Ngurah Swajaya, as quoted by Antara in Jakarta on Saturday, June 27.

Ngurah noted that Indonesia, as the largest digital market in ASEAN, has significant potential to combine with Swiss innovation strengths, particularly in digital infrastructure, digital finance, and artificial intelligence (AI). He added that interaction between digital industry players from both countries still needs to be enhanced to optimally harness this potential.

“This event brings together the complementary digital potentials of both countries, and is even being held in Europe’s largest crypto and blockchain hub, the Canton of Zug, Switzerland,” Ngurah said. One of the opportunities discussed was the development of digital talent training through Nongsa Digital Park in Batam, Riau Islands.

Chief Business Officer of Nongsa Digital Park, Marco Bardelli, said the program is designed to prepare a Swiss-standard workforce to support companies’ expansion into Indonesia. “Its application can span both physical manufacturing and all areas related to fintech,” Bardelli said.

The forum, held as part of the 75th anniversary of Indonesia-Switzerland diplomatic relations, also addressed the development of data centers, blockchain, fintech, and AI, as well as the strengthening of digital sovereignty.

In addition, Head of Bank Indonesia’s Representative Office in London, IGP Wira Kusuma, discussed national economic resilience and the development of digital payment systems, including the expansion of the Quick Response Code Indonesia Standard (QRIS) across Asia. ***
