Indonesia Confirms Three Citizens Safe After 7.1-Magnitude Quake in Venezuela

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – The Indonesian government has confirmed that all Indonesian citizens residing in Venezuela are safe following a magnitude 7.1 earthquake that struck the country’s northern coastal region on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at 3:04 p.m. local time.

Spokesperson Indonesia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs Yvonne Mewengkang said the government is closely monitoring developments following the earthquake in Venezuela. “The Indonesian government is closely following developments after the 7.1-magnitude earthquake that struck the northern coastal region of Venezuela on June 24, 2026, at 3:04 p.m. local time,” Yvonne said in a statement issued in Jakarta on Thursday, June 25, 2026.

Yvonne stated that through the Indonesian Embassy (KBRI) in Caracas, the government has verified that all Indonesian citizens registered in Venezuela, totaling three people, are safe. In addition, the Indonesian Embassy building in Caracas and the Ambassador’s Residence were reported to be in good condition, while all embassy staff are safe.

“The Indonesian Embassy in Caracas has confirmed that all Indonesian citizens registered in Venezuela, totaling three individuals, are safe, unharmed, and in good health,” she said.

She added that emergency communication channels have been established to monitor the situation and provide regular updates on the condition of Indonesian citizens. “The embassy continues to monitor official information from the Venezuelan government regarding the possibility of aftershocks and coastal hazards,” she said.

The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has urged all Indonesian citizens in Venezuela to remain vigilant and follow instructions issued by local authorities. Those requiring assistance may contact the Indonesian Embassy in Caracas or the Ministry’s Directorate for the Protection of Indonesian Citizens hotline.

The Indonesian government also conveyed its deepest condolences to the Government and people of Venezuela over the disaster and expressed hope that recovery efforts would proceed swiftly.
