RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Russian Ambassador to Indonesia, Sergei Tolchenov, emphasized that cooperation between Russia and Indonesia, including in the energy sector, will not be affected by the current global geopolitical situation or recent attacks on certain facilities. According to him, despite the complexities of the current global environment, Russia remains resilient and continues to conduct its economic activities as a regular participant in the global economy.

"I don't think this situation will affect Russia's cooperation with Indonesia in any field, including oil. We are ready to provide the necessary supplies," Tolchenov said in Jakarta on Wednesday, June 24, 2026.

Regarding the possibility of exporting liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) to Indonesia, Tolchenov said that most Russian energy companies are currently more focused on liquefied natural gas (LNG). However, he noted that Russian companies could potentially supply LPG if there is a clear demand from Indonesia.

He added that, so far, there has been no specific request from Indonesia regarding LPG imports. "At the moment, there is no request. If there is one, we are ready to consider it," he said.

On the possibility of increasing Russian oil and gas exports to Indonesia, Tolchenov stressed that such cooperation would require detailed technical discussions, including the type of oil required, supply volumes, destination ports, payment mechanisms, and pricing arrangements.

"So, it means that in both cases, Russia is in a stand-by position. So, if you need oil and gas, please tell us. How many, what kind of, where we need to bring it," he added.

According to Tolchenov, Indonesia has not yet submitted any official request detailing those requirements. "If there is a specific request, there will be a specific response, and then contracts can be signed and deliveries can be made," he said.

He conveyed that energy cooperation ultimately must be based on clear business needs and agreements between business entities, rather than general statements regarding energy supply requirements.
