  • Indonesia, Switzerland, and UNDP have launched the second phase of the Sustainable Landscape Program Indonesia to strengthen environmental governance, rural livelihoods, and sustainable commodity value chains.
  • The 2026-2029 program aims to expand successful pilot initiatives by integrating them into national systems, increasing stakeholder collaboration, and improving long-term financing mechanisms.

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia, in collaboration with the Swiss Embassy and UNDP, has launched the second phase of the Sustainable Landscape Program Indonesia (SLPI), reinforcing its commitment to resilient commodity value chains, rural livelihoods, and sustainable landscape governance.

Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Senior Advisor Dida Gardera emphasized at the Jakarta launch on Monday, June 22, 2026, that Indonesia’s landscapes are a national asset and protecting them while advancing community welfare is a national priority.

He noted that the program’s second phase offers an opportunity to showcase sustainable landscape management practices at the grassroots level, while strengthening institutional learning and integrating multi‑stakeholder forums into financing and planning systems.

Swiss Ambassador Olivier Zehnder highlighted SLPI as proof that strong partnerships can deliver lasting impact.

He pointed to the first phase (2023–2025), which not only helped protect forests but also improved community welfare and opened access to better market opportunities. Switzerland, he said, is committed to expanding these achievements in the second phase.

UNDP Indonesia’s Aretha Aprilia stressed that sustainable development requires communities to be part of the solution. Through SLPI, UNDP supports a multi‑stakeholder platform that brings together farmers, government, and the private sector to collaborate, share knowledge, and align efforts toward common goals.

The second phase will focus on embedding this platform into national systems and institutions to ensure long‑term impact.

Running from 2026 to 2029 with support from Switzerland’s State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), SLPI’s second phase builds on pilot successes by strengthening partnerships among government, communities, and businesses, while enhancing monitoring and financing systems.

Greater emphasis will be placed on national‑local coordination, results‑based monitoring, mobilizing domestic resources, and engaging the private sector--ensuring sustainable benefits beyond the program’s duration. ***
