Indonesia Welcomes U.S.-Iran Agreement, Supports Peace and Stability in the Region

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian government has welcomed the agreement reached between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran. Indonesia described it as a positive development toward the peaceful resolution of conflict and the strengthening of peace, security, and stability in the region.

In an official statement posted by Indonesia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs on its X account on Monday, June 15, 2026,Indonesia expressed appreciation for all parties and mediators who contributed constructively to facilitating dialogue and encouraging the peaceful settlement of differences.

"Indonesia welcomes reports of an agreement reached between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran as a positive development towards peaceful settlement of conflict and advancing peace, security, and stability in the region," the ministry stated.

Indonesia also called on all parties to continue exercising restraint, uphold their commitments, and engage constructively in dialogue in order to maintain the momentum toward de-escalation. In addition, Indonesia expressed hope that the agreement would be implemented effectively and make a tangible contribution to regional stability.

"Indonesia looks forward to the implementation of this agreement and reaffirms its readiness to support efforts aimed at promoting peace, security, and stability in the region," the ministry added.

The Indonesian government further reaffirmed its readiness to support initiatives aimed at promoting peace, security, and stability in accordance with international law and the purposes and principles of the United Nations Charter.

Earlier, the United States and Iran were reported to have reached an agreement to end a conflict that had persisted for several months, including the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, a vital route for global energy supplies.

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who served as the chief mediator in the negotiations, said both sides had agreed to the immediate and permanent cessation of all military operations across multiple fronts, including in Lebanon. Sharif added that the official signing ceremony of the agreement is scheduled to take place in Geneva, Switzerland, on Friday, June 19, 2026.
