RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to Indonesia, Armin Limo, expressed optimism that defense cooperation between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Indonesia will continue to strengthen following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on defense cooperation. According to the Ambassador, the agreement provides important momentum for enhancing bilateral ties in the defense sector.
Speaking to RRI Voice of Indonesia on Thursday, June 11, 2026, Limo said potential areas of cooperation include the exchange of experience, technical cooperation in the development of defense products, and other forms of collaboration aimed at strengthening relations between the two countries.
"As you mentioned, a good exchange of experience, then exchange of technical process of making some defence product, and definitely that would help our cooperation to be enhanced, because the defence industry is one of the fields actually where Bosnia and Herzegovina might be competitive in the Indonesian market," he said.
Limo noted that although Bosnia and Herzegovina has a relatively small economy, the defense sector is one area in which the country has the potential to be competitive in the Indonesian market.
“We are a small country, our economy is small, and it is very difficult to compete with the Chinese and other countries, but defence field is one of the fields that might be competitive, and as you mentioned, that visit of your defence minister and our defence minister last year, and the MOU we signed might be first step in that regard,” he added.
Earlier, in January 2026, Indonesia's Defense Minister, Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, met with Bosnia and Herzegovina Defense Minister, Zukan Helez in Sarajevo. During the meeting, the two sides agreed to strengthen defense cooperation through the signing of an MoU.
According to him, defense ties between Indonesia and Bosnia and Herzegovina have been reinforced through reciprocal visits by the two countries' defense ministers and the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding, which serves as a foundation for expanding cooperation in the future.
