RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian animated film "Garuda di Dadaku" has earned a nomination in the Animation category at the Golden Goblet Awards. This prestigious award is part of the main competition at the 2026 Shanghai International Film Festival, which will take place from June 12–21, 2026.
This achievement was announced by producer Shanty Harmayn at a screening in Jakarta on Thursday June 4, 2026. Shanty stated that this is the first time an Indonesian animated film has competed at the event. The nomination was received through an invitation from international distributors.
The film is the result of a three-year production process, carried out entirely without the use of artificial intelligence. The production process involved 500 animators from 17 animation studios in various cities in Indonesia, including Batam, Yogyakarta, Malang, Bali, Bogor, and Jakarta, under the auspices of BASE Entertainment and Kawi Animation.

"Garuda di Dadaku" is an animated adaptation of the live-action film of the same name, which first aired in 2009. This animated version aims to reintroduce Indonesia's original intellectual property to a new generation, with its release coinciding with school holidays and the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The government welcomed this achievement. Vice Minister of Creative Economy Irene Umar emphasized that the government continues to encourage Indonesian creative industry players to not only dominate the domestic market but also penetrate the international market.
International interest in Indonesian animation is also growing. Malaysia is said to have shown interest in the quality of Indonesian animation production, opening wider opportunities for the expansion of Indonesian creative works on the global stage.
