Meeting Turkish FM, Prabowo Thanks Türkiye for Support in Repatriating Flotilla

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Indonesian President, Prabowo Subianto, expressed his appreciation to the Government of Türkiye for its support in facilitating the repatriation of nine Indonesian nationals who participated in the Global Sumud Flotilla 2.0 humanitarian mission. Foreign Minister Sugiono said the appreciation was conveyed by President Prabowo during a meeting with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan in Jakarta on Wednesday.

According to the Minister, President Prabowo extended his deepest gratitude to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the Government of Türkiye for their assistance in ensuring the safe return of the Indonesian citizens.

“During his meeting with Foreign Minister Fidan, President Prabowo conveyed his deepest appreciation to H.E. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the Government of Türkiye for its invaluable support in facilitating the repatriation of the nine Indonesian nationals who were part of the Global Sumud Flotilla 2.0 humanitarian mission,” Sugiono wrote on his X account on Wednesday.

During the meeting, the two sides also exchanged views on the latest developments in the Middle East, particularly regarding the situations in Iran and Palestine. He said Indonesia and Türkiye, as fellow countries of the Global South, agreed to strengthen coordination in promoting de-escalation and the peaceful resolution of conflicts in the region.

The two countries also reaffirmed their commitment to continue advocating for justice for the Palestinian people amid the ongoing humanitarian crisis in the region. Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan’s visit to Indonesia took place at the invitation of President Prabowo Subianto as part of efforts to strengthen bilateral relations and coordination on regional and global issues.

Previously, the Indonesian government successfully secured the release and repatriation of nine Indonesian humanitarian volunteers from the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) 2.0 mission who had been detained by Israeli authorities. Their return to Indonesia on May 24, 2026, was made possible through intensive diplomatic efforts by the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with active support from the Turkish government.
