RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia and France reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening a comprehensive strategic partnership as President Prabowo Subianto and President Emmanuel Macron met at the Élysée Palace in Paris on Thursday, May 28, 2026.

The two leaders underscored the importance of closer collaboration in navigating global challenges and advancing peace.

“In a world increasingly marked by uncertainty, tension, and conflict, our two nations can play a positive role. Indonesia will always encourage efforts to preserve peace. War and conflict bring no good to anyone,” President Prabowo stated, as quoted on the Presidential Secretariat's official website.

President Prabowo welcomed the deepening of bilateral ties through the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CEPA), highlighting France’s support for greater investment and economic cooperation. He praised the establishment of the France-Indonesia High Level Business Council, expected to bolster business relations between the two countries.

“This is very important, and we are pleased to see French companies continue to participate in Indonesia’s economy. As a European leader, France will also play a vital role in Southeast Asia,” Prabowo added.

On global issues, both leaders discussed the Middle East, stressing its impact on energy security and global supply chains. President Prabowo reiterated Indonesia’s firm support for a two-state solution as the only path to lasting peace in Palestine.

“Indonesia believes peace in the Middle East is impossible without a two-state solution and justice for the Palestinian people,” he emphasized.

The President also expressed gratitude for the warm welcome extended by the French government, noting that bilateral relations are at a very strong level. “Today I was received with great honor. Thank you once again. May Indonesia and France continue to move forward with clear direction and strong commitment,” he said.

Concluding his remarks, President Prabowo underscored Indonesia’s view of France and Europe as essential partners in shaping a balanced multipolar world order. “We want to see France and Europe play an even stronger role so we can work together in building a peaceful multipolar world,” he affirmed. ***
