RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia is preparing to send a delegation to the 3rd International Nuclear Science Olympiad (INSO) in Saudi Arabia, with two students from an Islamic senior high school earning places among the country’s top candidates.

Hilmy Lazuardhy Nurramadhan and Faris Patria Chariansyah from state-run Islamic senior high school MAN Insan Cendekia Serpong (MAN IC Serpong) were selected as part of Indonesia’s prospective delegation for the international competition, which will take place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, from August 2-9, 2026.

The selection results were announced by the Indonesian Nuclear Technology Polytechnic, a vocational education institution under the Indonesian National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN).

MAN IC Serpong Principal Hilal Najmi said participation in the event is not only about competition, but also about preparing students to enter the future scientific ecosystem.

“Nuclear science plays an important role in health, energy, food, and the environment,” Hilal said on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, as quoted on the Indonesian MInistry of Religious Affairs official website.

INSO is known for its highly specialized and challenging material, covering nuclear physics theory, radiation, nuclear technology, and its applications in healthcare, energy, agriculture, and environmental studies.

Participants are expected to master advanced scientific concepts while also demonstrating experimental analysis and scientific problem-solving skills. Hilal said the achievement reflects the strong research culture and academic mentoring developed at the school.

“This is motivation; madrasa students are capable of competing in the most advanced fields of science. We hope they can achieve the best results and make Indonesia proud,” he said. ***
