RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia and China took a historic step in bilateral halal cooperation through the signing of a Recognition Agreement (RA) between the Halal Product Assurance Organizing Agency (BPJPH) and the FUIN Halal Certification Center, an overseas halal institution established within the framework of the Two Countries Twin Parks (TCTP) cooperation between Indonesia and the People's Republic of China (PRC), at the BPJPH office in Jakarta on Thursday, 21 May 2026.
This agreement marks a significant milestone in harmonizing international halal standards and strengthening the global halal product supply chain.
The Head of BPJPH, Ahmad Haikal Hasan, stated that this collaboration is a crucial step in overcoming regulatory barriers to halal product trade between countries.
"The stronger this signing, the easier it will be for product traffic. Until now, the main obstacle has been regulations. We must overcome these regulations through the MRA, especially with the Chinese government itself, so that we can strengthen cooperation, which will ultimately improve bilateral relations between the two parties," Haikal said.
According to him, this cooperation model will create a more measurable and mutually beneficial trading system for both countries.
This way, imported and exported products can be tailored to the needs of each country without harming domestic businesses, particularly MSMEs.
"With G to G, everything becomes more controlled. What we import is truly what they need, and what they need is truly what we export. This creates a mutually beneficial relationship, and we can also support domestic MSMEs," Haikal added.
According to a release received by Voice of Indonesia on Friday, 22 May 2026, the HALAL+ is an approach that extends the meaning of halal to the entire value chain, from logistics systems and storage to distribution processes that fully meet halal standards.
Furthermore, Haikal stated that the signing of the Recognition Agreement with the FUIN Halal Certification Center also opens a new chapter in Indonesia-China relations in the halal sector.
For BPJPH, this collaboration serves as a gateway to deepening direct dialogue with the Chinese side, particularly in realizing a HALAL+ ecosystem that encompasses the entire value chain from production to distribution.
Meanwhile, the CEO of FUIN Halal Certification Center, You Shijie, stated that the halal industry cooperation between Indonesia and China spans various sectors, from food and beverages and textiles to petrochemicals.
"Through this program, both countries are implementing government-to-government cooperation to promote and enhance industrial cooperation. With the support of BPJPH, today we are very pleased to sign the Recognition Agreement with BPJH," Shijie said.
He explained that following the signing of this Recognition Agreement, his office will collaborate with state-owned laboratories in China to ensure all halal testing and audits comply with Indonesian regulations.
"We will ensure that all testing and audit processes comply with Indonesian halal standards. With this foundation, we can promote halal products to more Chinese investors and industry players, encouraging them to collaborate with Indonesian producers," he said.
According to You Shijie, this collaboration aims not only to meet the needs of the Indonesian and Chinese markets but also to expand the penetration of halal products into the global market.
Shijie believes that halal products are a symbol of high quality that is acceptable to both Muslims and non-Muslims.
"Halal is a symbol of premium quality. With strong halal standards, we believe this collaboration can foster better relations between nations and open up broader opportunities for cooperation," he said.
In addition to strengthening halal certification, cooperation between the two countries also includes developing testing systems, improving standards, and plans to build an integrated halal logistics area that includes warehouses, producers, and export-import testing facilities in accordance with international halal standards.
The signing of this RA marks a concrete milestone in the Two Countries Twin Parks (TCTP) collaboration, an intergovernmental program between Indonesia and China that, among other things, established the FUIN Halal Certification Center as an official halal institution, now directly recognized by BPJPH.
With this recognition, the FUIN Halal Certification Center officially becomes part of the Indonesian halal certification ecosystem, opening a broader path for products from industrial areas in China to enter the Indonesian and global halal markets.
