Over several weeks, students conducted in-depth inquiries into challenges affecting communities and the environment while exploring practical solutions to create positive local impact.
A variety of student-led campaigns and projects were presented during the exhibition, including environmental cleanliness programs, waste segregation awareness, healthy lifestyle campaigns, and fundraising initiatives for underprivileged communities. The projects reflected how young learners are increasingly encouraged to connect classroom learning with real-world issues.
One project that attracted significant attention was presented by Year 5 student Alia Aswani, who explored the topic “Human Impact on the Sustainability of Marine Ecosystems.” Through her presentation, Alia explained how human activities continue to threaten marine ecosystems and stressed the importance of environmental conservation from an early age.
Principal of Junior School and PYP Coordinator at Beacon Academy, Cheryl Shah, said the PYP Exhibition allows students to take ownership of their learning while understanding their role in society. She stated that the programme helps students become more confident communicators, critical thinkers, and individuals who care about global challenges.
“Through inquiry, research, collaboration, and reflection, students learn to understand real-world issues connected to the Sustainable Development Goals and discover how they can contribute positively to society,” Cheryl Shah said. She added that the school is proud to see students develop both academically and personally through the programme.
