Indonesian Vice Minister of Trade Dyah Roro Esti Widya Putri said the achievement reflects the growing and promising trade partnership between Indonesia and China.

“China is an important and promising trade partner. Based on data from the Ministry of Trade as of Thursday, May 21, 2026, the SIAL activities and the Indonesian Trade Mission recorded potential transactions worth 88.48 million US dollars,” Roro said in a statement in Shanghai on Thursday.

The potential transactions included the signing of 12 memorandums of understanding (MoUs) worth a total of 60.34 million US dollars.

Products covered in the agreements included edible bird’s nests, tropical fruits such as salak and frozen durian, seaweed, sea cucumbers, coffee, vanilla, coconut derivative products such as coconut fiber, banana chips, shredded fish, shredded tuna, fish sambal, tempeh chips, fruit chips, and palm sugar. In addition, potential transactions during the SIAL Shanghai exhibition reached 2.4 million US dollars, with the most sought-after products including processed almonds and desiccated coconut for the food and beverage industry.

Meanwhile, one-on-one business matching activities generated potential transactions worth 25.89 million US dollars. Products attracting strong interest included seaweed, coffee, black pepper, palm sugar, coconut charcoal, cocoa powder, mangosteen, canned pineapple, and pineapple juice.

The trade mission to Shanghai also featured a business forum themed “Advancing Trade, Enhancing Partnership,” held on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at the Intercontinental Hotel Shanghai and attended by around 70 participants from Indonesia and China. A total of 22 Indonesian companies participated, showcasing products from the agriculture, fruit, coffee, coconut sugar, fisheries, processed food, sea cucumber, and coconut derivative sectors.

PT Aditama Tunggal Perkasa representative Rizky Adiliah said the company successfully signed a contract with a Chinese buyer for its cocopeat, cocofiber, and cocobristle products during the trade mission. “This success is clear evidence that Indonesia’s coconut derivative products have strong quality, competitiveness, and enormous market potential at the global level,” Rizky said.

SIAL Shanghai 2026 was held on May 18–20, 2026, with more than 5,000 exhibitors from 75 countries and attracting around 183,000 visitors from 132 countries. At the event, the Indonesian Pavilion carried the theme “Indonesian Coffee and Food: Rich in Flavor, Exceptional in Quality,” featuring products from 17 Indonesian companies, including coffee, spices, palm sugar, processed cocoa, nuts, coconut derivative products, and various packaged foods.
