RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia is seeking to deepen cooperation with Azerbaijan in workforce and human resource development as both countries look to strengthen long-term economic resilience and labor competitiveness.

Speaking at Azerbaijan’s 108th Independence Day celebration in Jakarta on Thursday, May 21, 2026, Indonesian Minister of Manpower Yassierli said human resource development had become an increasingly important pillar in bilateral relations between the two nations.

He noted that Indonesia and Azerbaijan share significant potential to expand cooperation connecting markets, regions, and communities, with workforce development playing a key role in that effort.

The minister said, a memorandum of understanding between the two governments provides a concrete framework for collaboration in areas closely linked to the future of work and sustainable economic transformation.

The partnership includes cooperation in social security systems, vocational education and training, workforce skills development, labor market improvement, and social protection for Indonesian migrant workers.

“These priorities are crucial as both countries continue preparing resilient, adaptive, and globally competitive workforces,” the minister said, as quotedby Antara.

He added that stronger cooperation in those sectors would contribute not only to institutional capacity building and workforce readiness, but also to inclusive growth and long-term economic resilience in both countries.

He also highlighted the shared commitment of Indonesia and Azerbaijan to strengthen collaboration among developing countries amid current global challenges.

Meanwhile, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Indonesia Ramil Abil oglu Rzayev emphasized the importance of expanding bilateral relations across various sectors, including economic cooperation, investment, digital transformation, and tourism.

“We would like to reaffirm Azerbaijan’s readiness to work even more closely with Indonesia,” Rzayev said. ***
