  • China's Foshan Polytechnic has expanded its education partnerships with three Indonesian universities in vocational learning and research collaboration.
  • The collaborations, announced earlier this week, involve Padjadjaran University, Hasanuddin University, and Bakrie University, with each partnership focusing on different strategic sectors.

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - China's Foshan Polytechnic has signed education partnerships with Indonesia's Padjajaran University (Unpad), Hasanuddin University (Unhas), and Bakrie University to strengthen collaboration in vocational education, research, and talent development.

The cooperation covers student and lecturer exchanges, green energy, smart manufacturing, battery technology, and e-commerce development linked to Indonesia’s growing digital economy.

The partnership between Foshan Polytechnic and Unpad’s Vocational School will include student and lecturer exchanges as well as joint research programs. Both institutions also plan to develop shared curricula and learning resources in smart manufacturing and green energy.

“We know China is highly advanced, especially in manufacturing and industry, so we are looking forward to building this collaboration in the future,” Unpad Rector Arief S. Kartasasmita said, on Thursday, May 21, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

Foshan Polytechnic’s cooperation with Unhas involves a three-way partnership with Guangdong Brunp Recycling Technology Co., Ltd., a Chinese battery supply chain company.

The collaboration will focus on applied research, industry-based curriculum development, and improving graduate competencies aligned with international workforce demands.

The partnership with Bakrie University will focus on e-commerce. Programs include training-based curriculum development, talent development initiatives connecting Indonesia’s and China’s digital economies, lecturer capacity building through seminars and training, and academic and industry exchanges in e-commerce.

Vocational education cooperation between Indonesia and China has continued to grow in recent years. Prior to these agreements, Foshan Polytechnic had already established partnerships with other Indonesian institutions, including IPB University’s Vocational School and the Industrial Management Academy Polytechnic (STMI) under Indonesian Ministry of Industry. ***
