RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Students at Beacon Academy are demonstrating that environmental awareness and social responsibility are no longer concerns limited to adults. Through the Middle School IRP Exhibition 2026, students aged 11–14 presented innovative solutions to real-world challenges affecting communities across Indonesia.
Held in North Jakarta on Wednesday, the exhibition featured research-based projects developed by grade 6 to 8 students after a four-month inquiry-driven learning process. The projects focused on issues such as waste management, environmental sustainability, and social challenges inspired by local conditions in Indonesia.
The exhibition adopted the theme “Ideas for Today, Solutions for Tomorrow,” reflecting the school’s effort to encourage students to think critically and act responsibly from an early age. The initiatives were also guided by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and the Indonesian national philosophy of Pancasila.
The students conducted field observations, collaborated in teams, and designed practical ideas aimed at creating sustainable solutions for society. Visitors were invited to interact directly with the students through presentations and live demonstrations of their projects.
Academic Advisor at Beacon Academy, Arvind Chalasani, said the exhibition highlights the important role of middle school education in shaping socially conscious young leaders. He noted that education should not only prioritize academic achievement, but also empathy and awareness of local issues.
“We believe that education must cultivate globally-minded critical thinkers who are deeply rooted in Pancasila values and committed to addressing diverse local issues across Indonesia,” Arvind said. He added that the students had shown strong academic maturity by transforming research findings into creative and practical solutions.
Meanwhile, IRP Coordinator Avinash Kashyap explained that the program was designed to equip students with future-ready skills through direct engagement with real-world problems. According to him, the learning process emphasized research, collaboration, resilience, and continuous improvement rather than simply achieving perfect results.
“What makes this exhibition special is that all projects were created from the students’ own explorations, moving beyond theory to teach them how to research, collaborate, and understand the impact of their ideas on society,” Avinash said. He added that the exhibition reflects how schools can empower young people to become changemakers while strengthening character education and innovation for the future.
Located in Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta, Beacon Academy is an international educational institution that offers an integrated learning pathway from Preschool to Senior School through the Cambridge and International Baccalaureate (IB) curricula. The school is built on three core pillars academic excellence, character development, and student wellbeing aimed at preparing students to become globally competitive, resilient, and socially responsible individuals.
Through service learning and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, Beacon Academy also seeks to nurture empathetic future leaders who can contribute meaningfully to society. The institution emphasizes holistic education by combining academic achievement with leadership values, emotional resilience, and community engagement.
