RRI.CO.ID, Shanghai - Indonesia's Vice Minister of Trade, Dyah Roro Esti Widya Putri, is promoting increased exports of Indonesian food and beverage products at the Salon International de l'Alimentation (SIAL) Shanghai 2026 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC), China, from May 18-20, 2026. She said the international exhibition is a strategic opportunity to expand business networks and introduce Indonesia's superior food and beverage products to the global market.
"SIAL Shanghai is not just an exhibition, but also a bridge for innovation and a collaboration platform for the global food and beverage industry," she conveyed at the opening of SIAL Shanghai 2026 on Monday, May 18, 2026.
Dyah further mentioned that the food and beverage industry is one of the largest manufacturing sectors in Indonesia, contributing significantly to the Indonesian economy and trade. The value of Indonesian processed food product exports to the world is expected to reach USD 6.25 billion by 2025, with key destinations including the United States (US), the Philippines, Malaysia, China, and Thailand.
According to her, the high demand for food and beverages in China opens up significant opportunities for Indonesia to increase exports of various food and beverage products, both raw materials and processed products.
However, she emphasized that the success of global trade is determined not only by production capacity and market potential, but also by product quality, food safety, and compliance with international standards.
SIAL Shanghai 2026 will feature more than 5,000 exhibitors from 125 countries and is expected to attract 180,000 visitors from around the world. This event is one of the largest food and beverage (F&M) industry platforms in the Asia Pacific region.
At SIAL Shanghai 2026, the Indonesian Pavilion will be located in Hall E3, showcasing products from 17 companies. Products on display include coffee, spices, palm sugar, processed cocoa, nuts, coconut derivatives, biscuits, candy, and various other packaged foods.
On the occasion, she also encouraged international delegates to establish business partnerships with Indonesian businesses. She believes that SIAL Shanghai 2026 can serve as a platform to strengthen collaboration and trade cooperation in the F&M sector.
On the occasion, the Vice Minister witnessed the signing of five cooperation agreements with a total transaction value of USD 3.55 million. These agreements included banana chips, fish floss, tuna floss, fish chili sauce, tempeh chips, fruit chips, palm sugar, mini palm sugar cubes, and coffee.
