RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned the Israeli military’s interception of the international humanitarian mission Global Sumud Flotilla 2.0 in the waters off Cyprus in the eastern Mediterranean, as well as the alleged abduction of several Indonesian citizens involved in the convoy.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Yvonne Mewengkang, stated that the incident occurred on Monday local time, when the humanitarian aid convoy bound for Gaza was intercepted by Israeli forces in Cypriot waters.

“As of now, at least ten vessels have been confirmed seized, including the Amanda, Barbaros, Josef, and Blue Toys,” Yvonne said in Jakarta on May 19, 2026.

Yvonne further revealed that the vessel Josef was carrying an Indonesian citizen, Andi Angga Prasadewa, who was part of a delegation from Global Peace Convoy Indonesia (GPCI)–Rumah Zakat.

She also said communication efforts are ongoing with another vessel carrying Indonesian journalist Bambang Noroyono to confirm the condition of the crew and passengers on board. The government emphasized that the situation on the ground remains highly dynamic and developments continue to be closely monitored.

“The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs urges Israel to immediately release all vessels and crew members of the international humanitarian mission who are being detained,” she said.

In addition, Yvonne stressed that the ministry continues coordinating with various parties, including Indonesian representatives in the region, to ensure the safety of all Indonesian citizens involved. Indonesia also called on Israel to guarantee the uninterrupted delivery of humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people in accordance with international humanitarian law.

Previously, a group of Indonesian citizens (WNI), including two national media journalists participating in the international humanitarian mission Global Sumud Flotilla 2.0 to the Gaza Strip, were reportedly abducted by Israeli Zionist forces during their voyage.

Regarding the incident, Republika Editor-in-Chief Andi Muhyiddin stated in an official statement that the group of Indonesians intercepted by Israel consisted of nine volunteers, including two Republika journalists, Bambang Noroyono and Thoudy Badai.
