RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Russian cybersecurity company Positive Technologies is expanding its educational partnerships with several universities in Indonesia to strengthen human resource development in the cybersecurity sector. The collaboration was marked by the signing of memorandums of understanding with six Indonesian higher education institutions, namely Brawijaya University, Indonesia University of Education, Bandung Manufacturing Polytechnic, Mandala Institute of Technology and Science, Darul Ma'arif University, and Padjadjaran University.
The agreements with five universities were signed during the KazanForum, while the agreement with Universitas Padjadjaran was concluded a day earlier in Moscow. Positive Technologies Southeast Asia Regional Director Elena Grishaeva said that a skilled workforce is essential for building cyber resilience at both the corporate and national levels.
“Partnerships with Indonesian universities help us strengthen a community of experts that can collaboratively combat cyber threats in Southeast Asia and globally,” Elena said in a statement received in Jakarta on Monday, May 18, 2026.
The cooperation includes faculty training, the establishment of cybersecurity practice laboratories, and the development of curricula related to defensive security and secure software development practices. In addition, the self-learning training platform EdTechLab will be implemented at partner universities to support practical cybersecurity education.
According to Positive Technologies, Indonesia has become one of the main targets of cyberattacks in Southeast Asia amid the country’s rapid digitalization and development of national digital infrastructure. Based on the company’s report, Indonesia accounts for around 40 percent of all reported data breach cases in Southeast Asia.
Meanwhile, Director of Educational Programs and Projects at Positive Technologies Yuliya Danchina said the company has built one of the largest international educational partnership networks in Indonesia in the cybersecurity field over the past two years. She added that Indonesian students regularly participate in the global Positive Hack Camp training program, which focuses on real-world cybersecurity simulations.
Universitas Padjadjaran Rector, Arief Kartasasmita, said higher education institutions play an important role in preparing future cybersecurity talent through stronger academic programs, practical training, and industry collaboration. “We believe this collaboration will strengthen practical competencies in cybersecurity, encourage innovation and knowledge exchange, and contribute significantly to the development of Indonesia’s national cyber resilience,” Arief said.
Previously, in May 2025, Positive Technologies established partnerships with four Indonesian educational institutions during the international cybersecurity festival Positive Hack Days. In August of the same year, Universitas Nahdlatul Ulama Nusa Tenggara Barat also joined the partnership.
