RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Pakistan is intensifying its bilateral relationship with Indonesia by focusing on three key sectors: health, investment, and the broader economy. This strategic push aims to build upon the positive momentum following high-level diplomatic engagements between the two nations.

During the Marka-e-Haq commemoration in Jakarta on Saturday, May 9, 2026, the Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Pakistan, Roshan Lal, highlighted these areas as the new pillars of cooperation. “These three sectors are the focus of exploring new cooperation,” Lal said, as quoted by Antara.

The health sector has emerged as a top priority for Pakistan, with proposed cooperation focusing on two major initiatives. First, the plan includes medical professional placement, which aims to facilitate the placement of doctors to exchange clinical expertise between the two nations.

Additionally, the partnership seeks to expand educational access by providing opportunities for Indonesian students to pursue medical studies and specialized professional training in Pakistan.

On the economic front, both nations are working to elevate their trade relationship. Efforts are underway to transition from the existing Indonesia-Pakistan Preferential Trade Agreement (IP-PTA) to a more robust Indonesia-Pakistan Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IP-CEPA).

“Investment is also an important field being developed by both parties,” Lal added, noting that bilateral ties have been on a positive trajectory following a visit by President Prabowo Subianto.

Beyond economic and social cooperation, Pakistan utilized the Marka-e-Haq event to advocate for regional stability. Roshan Lal emphasized Pakistan's commitment to constructive diplomacy and dialogue, specifically citing efforts to help mediate tensions in the ongoing crisis between the United States and Iran.

“We want to convey a positive message and peace,” he concluded, reaffirming Pakistan's role in fostering a peaceful international environment. ***
