The President Uses Maung at ASEAN Summit for the First Time

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, attended the 48th ASEAN Summit held on May 7-8, 2026, in Cebu, Philippines.

Upon arriving in Cebu, President Prabowo was welcomed by the National Security Advisor of the Republic of the Philippines, Eduardo Oban. At the foot of the airplane stairs, President Prabowo also received an honor guard welcome and a performance of traditional Filipino dances.

The arrival of President Prabowo in the Philippines garnered special attention. For the first time on an overseas visit, the Head of State was welcomed using the Maung, a light tactical vehicle developed by Indonesia's national defense industry.

"During his stay in the Philippines, the President will use a vehicle known as this rugged light tactical vehicle," Cabinet Secretary, Teddy Indra Wijaya conveyed in his statement.

According to him, the tactical vehicle is known for its toughness and has been used in various operations and national needs. The use of the Maung in the President's international agenda simultaneously demonstrates the progress of the domestic defense industry, which continues to develop.

"Maung has been developed since Mr. Prabowo became the Minister of Defense and currently its production at Pindad has reached 3,200 units, and it has been used in various operations and domestic needs." President Prabowo has also used the Maung since he was inaugurated as the President of the Republic of Indonesia on October 20, 2024," he said.
