RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian Presidential Security Force (Paspampres) is intensifying its training standards through a joint exercise with the U.S. Marine Forces Special Operations Command (MARSOC), aimed at enhancing readiness and professionalism in safeguarding national leaders.

The program, known as a Subject Matter Expert Exchange (SMEE), was launched on Monday, May 4, 2026, and includes a series of tactical drills. Paspampres Commander Major General Edwin Adrian Sumantha described the initiative as a strategic step to strengthen the capabilities of Indonesian personnel.

“This cooperation reflects not only the close ties between our institutions but also the broader friendship between our two nations,” Edwin said in a statement on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

He emphasized that Paspampres soldiers must be prepared to operate in any situation or terrain, requiring not only physical strength but also adaptability, teamwork, problem-solving skills, and professionalism.

Joint training with elite U.S. forces, he noted, provides a valuable opportunity to exchange knowledge, techniques, and best practices. “I am confident all participants will benefit from this rare chance to learn from one another,” Edwin added.

The commander urged his troops to approach the exercises with discipline, dedication, and responsibility. “Show your loyalty and readiness as Paspampres soldiers who can carry out their duties anytime and anywhere,” he said.

Among the modules already underway is the marksmanship training, held at the Paspampres Training Detachment on Tuesday, May 5. The drill tested shooting accuracy across multiple positions and tactical scenarios.

Edwin personally inspected the session, ensuring smooth operations while boosting morale among the troops. ***
