RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia is strengthening Shalawat bus services to support Hajj 2026 pilgrims in Makkah. The update was delivered during a press conference in Jakarta on Sunday, May 3, 2026.
The Indonesian government provides dedicated transportation connecting pilgrims to and from the Grand Mosque in Makkah. The service operates continuously to support smoother, safer, and more accessible worship activities.
Shalawat buses connect accommodation areas with the Grand Mosque through key terminals across Makkah city. These include Terminal Jiad Ajyad, Jabal Ka’bah, and Syib Amir as main transit hubs.
A total of 452 buses have been deployed to serve Indonesian pilgrims throughout the entire operational period. The fleet operates non-stop across 21 routes with clear color codes and numbered systems.
Each route is supported by guide cards that must always be carried by every pilgrim during travel. This system helps pilgrims navigate routes more easily and avoid confusion during busy travel periods.
The service also includes 52 hydraulic buses specifically designed for elderly and disabled pilgrims. These features ensure more inclusive, safe, and comfortable transportation access for all pilgrims.
The Ministry of Hajj spokesperson Maria Assegaff highlighted the government’s strong focus on inclusive transport services. She emphasized that accessibility remains a key priority for all Indonesian pilgrims.
“We provide 24-hour Shalawat buses with fleets that are friendly for elderly and disabled pilgrims. This is part of our commitment to inclusive and equitable Hajj services,” she said.
The service has operated since the first arrivals in Makkah on April 30, 2026. Indonesian officers remain on standby to assist pilgrims facing difficulties anytime during operations.
