RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Japanese Defense Minister Koizumi Shinjiro and his delegation paid an official visit to Indonesia. The Japanese Defense Minister wore a blue suit and looked happy when he arrived in Jakarta. The Japanese Defense Minister was welcomed by the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Indonesia, Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, at the VIP Terminal 3 of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Jakarta, on Sunday, May 3, 2026.

The Japanese Defense Minister's visit was to attend the 2026 Defense Ministers Meeting. Furthermore, his visit also served as a continuation of the signing of the Defense Cooperation Arrangement (DCA) between Indonesia and Japan, scheduled on Monday, May 4, in Jakarta.

Upon arrival in Jakarta, the Japanese Defense Minister and his delegation attended an official dinner led by the Indonesian Defense Minister in Bali. This visit marked a significant milestone in strengthening bilateral relations between Indonesia and Japan, particularly in the defense sector.

In welcoming the Japanese delegation, the Indonesian Minister of Defense was accompanied by the Head of the Defense Information Bureau of the Ministry of Defense's Secretariat General, Brigadier General TNI Rico Ricardo Sirait, the Head of the Defense Logistics Agency, the Head of the Administration and Protocol Bureau of the Ministry of Defense's Secretariat General, and the Director of Defense Information, Directorate General of Strategic Defense.

In addition, Minister Sjafrie was also accompanied by the Director General of Defense Strategy and the Commander of the 3rd Infantry Division of the Army Strategic Reserves Command (Kostrad).

The meeting between the two ministers was utilized to foster trust and mutual understanding between Indonesia and Japan, ahead of the strategic meeting agenda scheduled for the following day.

The activity was also part of a cultural visit, which is commonly conducted in bilateral and multilateral forums, where the host country introduces its cultural richness and traditions to its partner country.
