The US and Indonesia Reinforce Maritime Security and Technology Cooperation

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Foreign Commercial Service of the United States Embassy in Jakarta welcomed the visit of the U.S. Maritime Security and Technology Trade Mission to Jakarta and Surabaya on April 27–29, 2026.
As the first U.S. trade mission focused on the maritime sector in Indonesia, this visit reflects the strengthening partnership between the United States and Indonesia in maritime, infrastructure, and new maritime technology, while also highlighting the growth of commercial relations in this strategic sector.
As quoted by the official id.usembassy.gov website dated Wednesday, 29 April 2026, During the visit, the US delegation met with senior stakeholders in Jakarta, including representatives from the Ministry of Transportation, the Ministry of Defense, the Coordinating Ministry for Infrastructure and Regional Development, Danantara Indonesia, and the Indonesian Navy.
The agenda in Jakarta also includes business matchmaking meetings with local companies, visits to Tanjung Priok Port, and a networking reception that brings together government representatives, maritime associations, state-owned enterprises, and the private sector. The delegation also attended a briefing session at the US Consulate General in Surabaya, visited Tanjung Perak Port, and discussed with the commander of the Indonesian Navy in Surabaya.

According to him, the involvement of American companies is expected to bring innovative solutions relevant to the needs of Indonesia's maritime sector. "We want to partner to support a safe, resilient, and future-oriented maritime sector," he said.
The US delegation includes representatives from TMA BlueTech, Bardex Corporation, Flood Dynamics, Biospherical Instruments, DOLGO (dolgo.ai), HydroComp Inc., Otolith Technologies, and Moffatt & Nichol. Thru this trade mission, these companies are exploring opportunities to collaborate with Indonesian partners and contribute to the sustainable growth of Indonesia's maritime economy.
Indonesia was chosen as the next destination for the maritime trade mission in Singapore, which was held in conjunction with Singapore Maritime Week from April 20-24. This first U.S. maritime trade mission focused on Indonesia also reflects the broader commitment of the United States to support Indonesia in maritime domain awareness, security, and infrastructure.
