RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The United States has taken a significant step toward strengthening maritime cooperation with Indonesia, sending a Maritime Security and Technology Trade Mission to Jakarta and Surabaya from April 27–29, 2026.

Organized by the U.S. Embassy’s Commercial Section in Jakarta, the mission marked the first trade delegation focused specifically on Indonesia’s maritime sector, underscoring both countries’ commitment to advancing cooperation in infrastructure and maritime technology.

“We are pleased to connect leading U.S. companies in maritime technology and security with partners in Indonesia to advance shared priorities,” Charge d’Affaires ad interim at the U.S. Embassy in Jakarta, Peter M. Haymond, said in a press release issued on Wednesday, April 29, as quoted by Antara.

During the visit, the U.S. delegation met with key stakeholders in Jakarta, including the Ministry of Transportation, Ministry of Defense, Coordinating Ministry for Infrastructure and Regional Development, Danantara Indonesia, and the Indonesian Navy.

The agenda also featured business matchmaking with local companies, a site visit to Tanjung Priok Port, and a networking reception bringing together government officials, maritime associations, state-owned enterprises, and private sector representatives.

In Surabaya, East Java, the delegation attended a briefing at the U.S. Consulate General, toured Tanjung Perak Port, and held discussions with Indonesian Navy leadership.

Haymond emphasized that the United States remains committed to delivering innovative, high-quality solutions and partnering with Indonesia to build a secure, resilient, and future-oriented maritime sector.

The delegation comprised several U.S. maritime technology firms exploring collaboration opportunities to support Indonesia’s maritime economic growth. Indonesia was chosen as the next destination following the mission’s participation in Singapore Maritime Week. ***
