RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Indonesia and Australia are working together to promote the development and reform of the education sector in Palestine through the Trilateral Education Dialogue, attended by officials from the Palestinian Ministry of Education and Higher Education. Director of International Development Cooperation at Indonesia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Rina Setyawati, said the dialogue reflects Indonesia’s commitment to supporting the recovery of Palestine’s conflict-affected education sector.

“The Trilateral Education Dialogue is a manifestation of Indonesia’s commitment to supporting the Palestinian people in rebuilding the education sector affected by conflict,” Rina said at the closing of the dialogue on April 25, 2026.

She added that the initiative marks the first trilateral cooperation between Indonesia and Australia for Palestine and opens opportunities for further collaboration in development. “Indonesia and Australia have a strong and dynamic partnership through various forms of development cooperation. This initiative serves as a pioneer for future collaborations in supporting Palestine’s development,” she said.

On the same occasion, Palestinian Ambassador to Indonesia Abdulfattah Al-Sattari expressed appreciation for the efforts of both countries in supporting education development in Palestine, including the promotion of peace values among the younger generation.

Head of the Palestinian Delegation Ihab Inayyem also conveyed his appreciation for the dialogue. “I highly appreciate this Education Dialogue and am impressed by the implementation of value-based curricula in schools and universities. I hope this experience can serve as a foundation for future cooperation,” he said.

Meanwhile, Deputy Head of Mission of the Australian Embassy in Jakarta, Gita Kamath, stated that the dialogue represents the joint commitment of both countries in supporting Palestine. “This Education Dialogue reflects the shared determination of Indonesia and Australia to build momentum toward broader recognition of the State of Palestine and to support the Palestinian Authority in advancing its education reform priorities,” she said.

The Trilateral Education Dialogue included a series of discussions and field visits in Jakarta, Yogyakarta, Surabaya, and Lombok. The initiative aims to support education reform in Palestine through knowledge exchange, curriculum development, and the strengthening of tolerance and social cohesion values through the involvement of Indonesian civil society organizations.
