RRI.CO.ID, Makkah - Indonesia urges Hajj pilgrims to apply a buddy system amid tightened entry rules in Makkah. The advisory was issued in Makkah on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, and comes as Saudi authorities enforce stricter regulations for movement in the Holy City.

Head of Pilgrim Protection Section (Linjam) for Indonesian Hajj Officers in Makkah, Tulus Widodo, said all movements must be done in groups. He emphasized a minimum of three people for both pilgrims and officers.

“Both officers and pilgrims must ensure every movement follows a ‘buddy system’. The system should involve at least three people, not just two,” he said.

Tulus Widodo said the buddy system is designed to reduce risks during activities in the Holy Land. He added that group movement helps ensure safety and faster assistance when needed.

He further urged officers to consistently apply the system during all travel activities. The same guidance also applies to Indonesian pilgrims throughout their stay.

“Therefore, we urge officers to always apply the ‘buddy system’, ensuring it involves at least three people,” he said.

In addition, he also reminded pilgrims to always carry their Nusuk card when going outside their accommodation. The card is required for identification and access in regulated areas.

He stressed that pilgrims must use only official transportation when traveling to the Grand Mosque. Official taxis are marked in white and green under Saudi regulations.

Unauthorized taxis may drop passengers far from the mosque and cause difficulties in reaching the Grand Mosque. The Indonesian government continues to remind pilgrims to prioritize safety and official services.
