RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – The Government of the Republic of Indonesia has expressed deep condolences over the death of an Indonesian soldier, Private First Class (PFC) Rico Pramudia, who was serving in the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) peacekeeping mission. Riko died after sustaining severe injuries from an artillery explosion fired by an Israeli tank near the city of Dehid Al-Qusair on March 29, 2026.

Following the incident, the government coordinated with UNIFIL, the Lebanese government, and medical teams in Beirut to ensure optimal medical treatment for the victim.

“All possible medical measures had been undertaken. However, due to the severity of his injuries, the late soldier could not be saved,” Indonesian Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Vahd Nabyl Achmad Mulachela, said in a statement in Jakarta on Saturday, April 25, 2026.

The government also extended its deepest condolences to the bereaved family, affirming that the state honors the dedication and sacrifice of the fallen soldier in the service of world peace.

In addition, the government is coordinating with UNIFIL to ensure that the repatriation of the remains is carried out promptly and with full honors. Indonesia once again condemned the Israeli attack that led to the death of the peacekeeper, describing attacks against UN peacekeeping forces as a serious violation of international law.

The government also urged the United Nations (UN) to conduct a thorough, transparent, and accountable investigation to uncover all facts and ensure responsibility for the incident, while also calling for a comprehensive evaluation of personnel safety in the field.
