RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta — Indonesia, along with seven Muslim-majority countries, has condemned the actions of Israeli settlers who stormed and raised the Israeli flag at Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem, Palestine. Indonesia described the act as a violation.

“The Foreign Ministers of Indonesia, Egypt, Jordan, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, and the United Arab Emirates condemned the repeated violations committed by the Israeli occupying authorities against the historical and legal status quo at Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, particularly the continued incursions by settlers and extremist Israeli ministers into Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif under the protection of Israeli police, as well as the raising of the Israeli flag in its courtyard,” Indonesia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement on Friday, April 24, 2026.

They described the actions as violations of international law and international humanitarian law, as well as unacceptable provocations for Muslims around the world. The ministers reaffirmed their rejection of any attempts to alter the historical and legal status quo in Jerusalem and its holy sites, while emphasizing the importance of preserving it, including recognizing the special historical Hashemite custodianship.

“They also affirmed that the entire area of Al-Aqsa Mosque, covering 144 dunams, is a place of worship exclusively for Muslims, with the Jerusalem Waqf Department and Al-Aqsa Affairs, under Jordan’s Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, as the legal authority with exclusive jurisdiction to administer the site,” the statement said.

In addition, the ministers condemned the acceleration of illegal settlement activities by Israel, including the approval of more than 30 new settlements, which they said violates international law, United Nations Security Council resolutions, and the 2024 advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice. They also condemned the ongoing and escalating violence by settlers against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, including attacks on schools and children, and called for accountability for those responsible.

The ministers stressed that Israel has no sovereignty over the Occupied Palestinian Territory and firmly rejected any attempts to annex the territory or forcibly displace the Palestinian people. They warned that such actions threaten the viability of a Palestinian state and the implementation of a two-state solution, while escalating tensions and undermining peace efforts.

Furthermore, the ministers called on the international community to take firm and concrete measures to stop these violations and urged Israel to end the dangerous escalation in the occupied West Bank. They also called for intensified regional and international efforts to advance a political solution toward comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution.

The ministers reaffirmed their full support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, particularly the right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
