RRI.CO.ID, Bangkok – Indonesia’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Thailand and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific, Hari Prabowo, led the Indonesian delegation at the 82nd Session of the UNESCAP Commission held in Bangkok, Thailand, on April 20. In his statement, Hari emphasized the importance of countries in the region continuing to support sustainable development, both in ensuring the achievement of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (SDGs) and in formulating the global development agenda beyond 2030.

“It is time for us to think about and formulate the continuation of the development agenda beyond 2030 so that it remains relevant, inclusive, and capable of addressing evolving global challenges,” Hari Prabowo said in a statement from the Indonesian Embassy in Bangkok received in Jakarta on Wednesday.

He added that the Asia-Pacific region, which has been one of the engines of global growth while also exhibiting diverse levels of development, needs to serve as a compass in guiding the future global development agenda.

Indonesia also stressed that the principle of leaving no one behind must serve as the main foundation in formulating development policies and be reflected in inclusive policies that deliver tangible benefits for all segments of society.

According to him, cross-generational and cross-country partnerships are key to ensuring that no one is left behind in the development process.

“Amid current global challenges, we need to strengthen the spirit of solidarity across ages and across borders to ensure that no one is left behind in the development process,” he said.

The UNESCAP Commission Session is the highest decision-making forum within UNESCAP. This year, the session carries the theme “Leaving no one behind: advancing a society for all ages in Asia and the Pacific,” emphasizing the importance of inclusive development for all age groups.

Indonesia’s active participation in the 82nd UNESCAP Commission Session reflects its strong commitment to strengthening multilateralism and promoting a more resilient, inclusive, and sustainable Asia-Pacific regional cooperation.
