RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – The Indonesian government has strongly condemned the installation of a banner reading “Rising Lion” by the Israel Defense Forces on the ruins of the Indonesian Hospital in Gaza.

In an official statement issued on Wednesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia described the act as provocative and unjustifiable, particularly as it involved the use of military symbols and propaganda on a healthcare facility that had been destroyed in the conflict.

“The use of military symbols and propaganda on the ruins of a hospital that has been destroyed, especially when linked to a specific military operation, is a highly provocative act and cannot be justified,” the ministry stated.

The Indonesian government also emphasized that the Indonesian Hospital in Gaza is a civilian facility built to provide medical services to the local population, not for military or propaganda purposes.

“The Indonesian Hospital is a civilian facility fully dedicated to providing healthcare services to the people of Gaza, not a place for military propaganda or intimidating messages,” the statement said.

Indonesia reiterated that all healthcare facilities must be protected under international humanitarian law.

The government also called on Israel to cease all actions that violate the protection of civilian infrastructure and to ensure accountability for attacks on medical facilities in Gaza.
