RRI.CO.ID, Madinah - The Indonesian Ministry of Hajj urged pilgrims to stay calm amid changing weather conditions in Saudi Arabia. Director of Overseas Hajj Services and Deputy Chairman II of PPIH Saudi Arabia, Budi Agung Nugroho, made the statement in Madinah on Tuesday, April 21, 2026.

The appeal was conveyed through the hajj officers operating in Saudi Arabia. Indonesian authorities emphasized the importance of awareness during rain and other extreme weather situations.

He referred to a circular issued by the Saudi Arabian Civil Defense Authority regarding public safety. The circular urges the public to remain in safe locations during unstable and potentially dangerous weather conditions.

It also highlights the importance of following official instructions and staying alert to surrounding environmental risks. Before delivering his statement, Budi emphasized safety and awareness for all Indonesian pilgrims in affected regions.

He reminded them to stay informed through official communication channels provided by authorities. "The public is asked to remain in safe locations and increase awareness during weather changes. It is important to pay attention to the surrounding environment and follow the directions of officials," Budi said.

He added that pilgrims must comply with official instructions shared through various media platforms for safety. This includes guidance distributed through verified communication channels, including official social media accounts.

According to the Saudi Arabian Meteorological Agency, moderate to heavy rain may occur across several regions. These include Mecca, Medina, Taif, and Riyadh, covering both western and eastern areas.

Despite weather changes, the Indonesian government ensures services for pilgrims continue as normal without disruption. Pilgrims are also advised to adjust worship activities and prioritize health, safety, and overall comfort.

"Rather than pushing yourself and potentially harming your health, it's better to perform prayers at hotels when the weather is not favorable," he said.
