RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian House of Representatives has urged a thorough review of military deployments in conflict zones following the deaths of three Indonesian peacekeepers in Lebanon.

House Speaker Puan Maharani called on the government to evaluate the assignment of the Indonesian Military (TNI) personnel in such areas, stressing the need for clear missions, mandates, operational readiness, and maximum protection for troops.

“This evaluation must align with international best practices in UN peacekeeping operations, which demand preparedness across political, capacity, and operational environments,” she said during the closing session of the House’s fourth sitting period in Jakarta on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

Puan also expressed deep condolences for the fallen soldiers, who lost their lives while serving on humanitarian missions in southern Lebanon. She emphasized the importance of a credible investigation, in cooperation with the United Nations, to establish the facts objectively.

“This effort must be grounded in the core principles of UN peacekeeping missions: transparency, accountability, and respect for international law and human rights,” she added.

The fallen soldiers -- Major Inf (Posthumous) Zulmi Aditya Iskandar, Sergeant Major (Posthumous) Muhammad Nur Ichwan, and Corporal (Posthumous) Farizal Rhomadhon -- were part of the Indonesian contingent in UNIFIL, a mission that has operated in southern Lebanon since 1978.

Each was posthumously promoted as a mark of respect.

The three soldiers were killed in separate incidents: Farizal Rhomadhon in an artillery strike near Adchit Al Qusayr on March 29, 2026, while Zulmi Aditya Iskandar and Muhammad Nur Ichwan in an attack on a UNIFIL logistics convoy near Bani Hayyan on March 30. ***
