RRI.CO.ID, Beijing - Indonesian Ambassador to China and Mongolia, Djauhari Oratmangun, has encouraged Indonesians living in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, to actively register themselves with the embassy as part of efforts to strengthen diaspora networks and ensure protection abroad.

“Don’t forget to register, now it can be done online anytime and anywhere. Maintaining connection and solidarity among Indonesians overseas is very important,” Ambassador Djauhari said in a written statement, as quoted by Antara.

The message was delivered during the “KBRI Beijing Goes to Chengdu” event on Saturday, April 18, 2026, attended by around 150 Indonesians, mostly students from local universities, alongside long-term residents.

Ambassador Djauhari also updated attendees on the establishment of a new Indonesian Consulate General in Chengdu, which will cover Sichuan, Yunnan, Shaanxi, Gansu, and Chongqing.

“President Prabowo Subianto signed the regulation last March, so Indonesians will no longer need to travel far to Beijing for consular services,” he explained.

The event also provided practical services and guidance. Immigration attache Herawan Sukoaji reminded participants to safeguard their passports, while Education attache Lestari Puspitaningsih stressed the importance of verifying diplomas through China’s Higher Education Student Information (CHSI) system before returning to Indonesia.

Consular officials Widya Airlangga and Bayu Oktavriyanto offered interactive sessions on consular services, registration procedures, and emergency assistance. Indonesians in need can contact the embassy hotline via WeChat or WhatsApp at 18610455488.
