RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesian immigration authorities in Tangerang have detained a British citizen identified as DH after discovering he had overstayed his visa by nearly six months and committed a disruptive behavior at a pet boarding facility in South Tangerang, Banten.
Head of Tangerang Immigration Office, Hasanin, said on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, that DH allegedly caused a commotion by pushing against the gate of a cat boarding house and refusing to pay service fees.
“He was also reported to have carried a sharp weapon and threatened local residents,” Hasanin noted, adding that the office has coordinated with the British Embassy regarding the matter.
Immigration officials stated that DH may face administrative sanctions, including deportation and entry bans, under Article 78 paragraph (3) of the Immigration Law. He is currently being held in the detention room of the Tangerang Immigration Office “to prevent unwanted incidents,” Hasanin explained.
Head of Intelligence and Immigration Enforcement at the same office, Bong Bong Prakoso Napitupul, revealed that DH’s tourist stay permit expired on October 21, 2025, leaving him in Indonesia unlawfully for 174 days.
“His motives for remaining in Indonesia are still under investigation, but his mental condition has complicated the examination process,” Bong Bong said.
Authorities have since transferred DH to Dr. Soeharto Heerdjan Psychiatric Hospital in Jakarta for medical evaluation. “The results show he is experiencing delusions and hallucinations,” Bong Bong added. ***
