RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia is expanding its strategic footprint in Europe, as President Prabowo Subianto met French President Emmanuel Macron at the Elysee Palace in Paris on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, to deepen bilateral cooperation across defense, energy, and the creative economy.

President Prabowo said in an official social media post that the meeting covered strategic cooperation in priority sectors beneficial to both Indonesia and France, Antara reported, quoting the Indonesian Government Communication Agency (Bakom).

“These include defense procurement and strengthening the defense industry, energy transition and renewable energy development, infrastructure and transportation, as well as education and the creative economy,” President Prabowo said.

Indonesia views France as one of its key strategic partners in Europe for expanding broader and sustainable bilateral cooperation.

“As one of our important partners in Europe, Indonesia continues to promote sustainable cooperation with France to open up new, concrete, and mutually beneficial collaboration opportunities,” he added.

At the Elysee Palace, President Prabowo was welcomed with a guard of honor, accompanied by a military band performance. President Macron greeted him on the palace terrace before the two leaders proceeded with their meeting.

President Prabowo arrived in Paris on Monday, April 13, at 11:50 p.m. local time, following a series of diplomatic engagements in Moscow, including talks with Russian Ppresident Vladimir Putin at the Kremlin palace.

The visit to France marks a continuation of Indonesia’s strategic diplomatic outreach in Europe. ***
