RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia is positioning population policy as a central pillar of its long-term development strategy, unveiling a comprehensive national roadmap at a the 59th Session of the UN Commission on Population and Development, held at the United Nations Headquarters, reaffirming its commitment to advancing global population and development agendas.

The Indonesian delegation, led by Deputy for Population Control at the Ministry of Population and Family Development/National Population and Family Planning Agency, Bonivasius Prasetya Ichtiarto, reinforced the country’s commitment by launching the Grand Design of Population Development 2025-2045, supported by the Population Development Roadmap (PJPK).

“Indonesia also emphasizes the importance of strengthening multilateral cooperation in addressing global population dynamics, including accelerating demographic transition and increasing the proportion of elderly populations,” he said in an official statement in Jakarta on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

He added that the initiative ensures population dynamics are fully integrated into cross-sector development planning at all levels of government, in line with national priorities. The strategy also highlights the role of digital technology in expanding access to education and healthcare, particularly for communities in remote and underdeveloped areas.

“The use of digital technology is directed at expanding access to education and health services, especially for people in remote and disadvantaged regions. Key initiatives include digital learning transformation programs for a smarter Indonesia, improving public digital literacy, and preparing the workforce for the era of artificial intelligence, automation, and Industry 4.0,” he explained.

In line with the implementation of the Grand Design of Population Development 2025-2045, Indonesia is also strengthening policy-based research in population dynamics, reproductive health, family planning, and social protection. “The synergy between technology, research, and public policy is the main foundation for building a resilient, adaptive, and inclusive society, and ensuring that no one is left behind,” he concluded. ***
