RRI.CO.ID, Tokyo – Indonesia’s Ambassador to Japan and the Federated States of Micronesia, Nurmala Kartina Sjahrir, expressed appreciation for the strategic role of the Japan-Indonesia Association (JAPINDA) as a bridge in enhancing cooperation between Indonesia and Japan.

“Indonesia highly values its long-term cooperation with Japan, which has consistently been built on mutual trust, respect, and shared prosperity. In this regard, JAPINDA plays a strategic role not only as a bridge for bilateral cooperation in fostering business partnerships, but also as a connector between the private sector and the government,” Kartina said in an official statement from the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo, received in Jakarta on Tuesday.

Ahead of the 70th anniversary of Indonesia–Japan diplomatic relations in 2028, Kartina expressed hope that both countries will continue to strengthen their increasingly close partnership. She noted that JAPINDA has made significant contributions in facilitating policy dialogue, promoting investment opportunities, and strengthening networks that support sustainable economic collaboration.

“We hope to enhance cooperation not only in the economic sector, but also in human resource development, including labor partnerships and skills development, which are crucial for the future of Indonesia–Japan relations,” she said.

On the occasion, Kartina was accompanied by officials from the Indonesian Embassy (KBRI) in Tokyo, including Political Affairs Coordinator Titik Hamzah, First Secretary for Economic Affairs Nur Rochma Amaliah, and Second Secretary Yusuf Ausiandra.

Meanwhile, JAPINDA Vice President Toshiaki Kitamura expressed optimism to continue building close and meaningful cooperation between the two countries through the organization. Kartina also appreciated JAPINDA’s active participation in a business forum held on March 30, 2026, on the sidelines of the official visit of President Prabowo Subianto to Japan.

She noted that the visit, including President Prabowo’s meeting with Emperor Naruhito, serves as a strong symbol of the deep friendship between the two nations. In addition, the meeting with Japan’s Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi reaffirmed the shared commitment to strengthening the Indonesia–Japan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
