RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian Directorate General of Immigration has scheduled the deportation of 13 Japanese nationals involved in an organized online fraud scheme uncovered in Sentul City, Bogor, West Java.

Head of Immigration Supervision, Arief Eka Riyanto, said the deportation is set for April 15, 2026. The arrests were made on March 2, 2026, during immigration surveillance in Babakan Madang District.

Intelligence and enforcement teams from the Bogor Immigration Office secured the suspects from three separate houses in Sentul City. Investigations revealed they allegedly targeted fellow Japanese citizens in Indonesia, posing as police officers and telecom officials.

Their modus operandi included intimidating victims via phone and video calls online, directing them to fake websites displaying forged arrest warrants, and coercing them into revealing financial data, liquidating investments, and transferring large sums of money.

Immigration checks showed one suspect entered Indonesia on a Visa on Arrival, while the other 12 used D12 pre-investment visit visas. Authorities concluded the group had misused their stay permits, violating Immigration Law No. 6/2011.

“Their return will be escorted by Indonesian immigration officers and accompanied by Japanese immigration officials,” Arief said, as quoted by Antara, adding that the deportation process will be publicly announced through press releases and social media.

The crackdown forms part of Operation Wirawaspada 2026, held April 7–11, which identified 346 foreign nationals violating immigration rules. Among them were 13 Japanese citizens, 183 from China, 21 from Pakistan, and 20 from Nigeria. The Japanese suspects remain under investigation pending deportation. ***
